Getting Started
If you are planning a matted album, keep in mind that your doing 2 things:
1. Telling a story of how the day unfolded - therefore edit out any photos that do not tell the story or are not a special memory.
2. Preserving your memories
THE EASIEST WAY TO PLAN YOUR ALBUM:
- Sorting - gather all your photos together and lay them out on the floor or a large table. Generally it's not practical to include every photo so discard any duplicates, out of focus shots or photos that do not "tell the story".
- Sizing - Then decide on the size of the photos - this is where you get to be creative. Depending upon the album size, look at the various mat sizes and remember that the square format albums (like the 9x9 or 12x12) can have the mats turned either way to create alternative formats for vertical or horizontal images. Important shots of the Bride and Groom are usually best as 10x8" enlargements, so it's a good idea to include maybe 2 or 3 of these.
- Cropping - Get some oversized pieces of card and use them to block out parts of the photos and try to visualise how they would look when cropped. You would be amazed at just how easy it can be to turn a mundane photo into a cropped 'Masterpiece'. Keep in mind that the larger the photo, the less on a page and the smaller the photo, the more on a page.
- Work out the mats you will need to tell your story
- then Order the album
